Maize South senior Tory Homan already knows where he’ll be playing basketball next year, as he is committed to Fort Hays State. But after a close loss at the state tournament to Andover last year, Homan has his sights set on unfinished business in his final season for the Mavericks. “My goals for this season are big- winning League, State, and League MVP,” Homan said. Homan spent the offseason working on expanding his game, particularly his shooting and ball-handling, in order to be a more well-rounded player.
After an opening night win over Andover Central, Homan had positive things to say about the beginning of the year. “The start of the season has been great. Our guys are really starting to mesh well together. We won our first game against Andover Central and had a good overall performance from everybody,” Homan said, before adding “but there is still so much we need to do to become the team we know we can be.”
He was also enthusiastic in his praise for his team and their chemistry, saying, “My favorite part of this team is being around the guys during practice. They are all fun to be around outside of practice and yet we are still able to lock in and push ourselves at practice.”
